This allows us to assess the viability of your pregnancy and give an accurate assessment of your dates. This package combines an ultrasound scan with the Early Gender DNA test to give complerte peace of mind. Your appointment will be performed by one of our fully qualified healthcare professionals. After the blood samples are taken the results are usually available within 7 working days*. What does the Sneak Peek Gender DNA test involve?

When you book your appointment with ABC4D you will receive a booking confirmation with the location of the clinic and the time and day of your appointment. On arrival you will be given a consent form to complete and then you will be taken to the scan room where depending on the package you have selected you will receive a scan and blood test or just a blood test. We then send your blood sample to the laboratory in the USA and the results will be emailed to you within 4-7 working days with the title “Your SneakPeek Result is in!” Please remember to check all your folders.

What if I am having twins?

The test looks for male DNA in the fetal DNA found in mum’s sample. In the case of identical twins, if male DNA is found, then both babies are boys. If no male DNA is found, then both babies are girls. For fraternal twins, finding male DNA means at least one baby is a boy, but cannot distinguish if the second is a boy or girl. In this instance we would recommend that you book a gender ultrasound when you are 16 weeks.

Is the test safe?

The Early Gender DNA isa non-invasive prenatal test (NIPT), and it’s safe for both mum and baby.

Does a previous miscarraige affect results?

Clinical studies have shown that fetal DNA clears rapidly from the maternal bloodstream, within 1-2 days. Therefore a miscarraige will not afffect your test results.

Does the test confirm pregnancy?

No. If there is no fetal DNA in mum’s blood, the test will return a female result, because mum is a girl. Please confirm your pregnancy and ensure you are a minimum 6 weeks before taking the test.

Should I get an ultrasound scan at the same time as getting the Early Gender DNA test?

We highly recommend that you get an ultrasound scan at the same time, this allows us to check your dates and the viability of your pregnancy.

What happens if I am less than 6 weeks gestation when scanned?

If you are less than 6 weeks gestation when you are scanned at your appointment, we will attempt to give you an accurate date based on the fetal development and invite you back at a later date to complete the blood test. If the dates are a lot less than you expected we would either refer you to EPAS or advise a rescan 7-10 days later to assess fetal development and confirm it is a continuing pregnancy. Please note any additional scans would be chargeable.
